What is glamping might you ask? According to the folks at the REI Coop, glamping is exactly what it sounds like – the glamorous version of camping. Glamping is not tent or sleeping bag accomodations. Glamping is when you can rent a cabin, yurt, treehouse, teepee, or a glamping lodge. One resource to learn about different types of lodging when glamping is https://www.glamping.com/accommodations/
So now that we know it is different than camping, is the packing list the same? Actually no. Here is what NOT to pack on a glamping trip: tent, camp stove, any tools for outdoor cooking, sleeping bag, and pillows. These items are optional: lantern, blankets, foldable camp chairs.
This sounds like Peggy’s ideal vacation in the woods – no tent and a bathroom with a toilet & shower. There still might be mosquitos and you are still in the great outdoors, but you have a the luxury of a fully indoor sleeping space.

Picture yourself sitting in one of these chairs listening to the music that is birds singing and crickets chirping. Now that you know what glamping is, you might be wondering where to find these places. Marriott actually came out with a new line of accommodations in 2025 called Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy. The Expedia Group which includes HomeAway, VRBO, Travelocity, Expedia, Hotels.com, and Trivago has access to glamping accommodations for you to choose from.
First, let’s look at Marriott Bonvoy’s Outdoor Collection. Trailborn, of the Outdoor Collection, is a hotel brand that has locations in some of the most iconic outdoor destinations such as the Grand Canyon or the Blue Ridge Mountains in Highland, NC. Peggy is a certified Marriott Bonvoy travel specialist who is happy to assist you in booking a stay at a Trailborn location. Never heard of Trailborn? Check out this site to learn more: https://www.marriott.com/brands/outdoor-collection/trailborn.mi
The more cozy chain in Marriott Bonvoy’s Outdoor Collection is the Postcard Cabins. This is exactly what it sounds like – small, fully furnished cabins in the woods. No key to get in, as you unlock the cabin door using a text code on your phone. Have questions about things to do or where the extra blankets are? Any special requests are handled via texts with Postcard Cabins’ real time customer service.
Look at this view, like how amazing is this photo below. I am not a fan of camping, but this looks like so comfy. The outdoor vibe with the indoor feel.

As a certified travel advisor with Marriott, Peggy can book your next stay in a Postcard Cabin. Here is a map of the 34 locations of Marriott Bonvoy’s Postcard Cabins:

Expedia and VRBO are another great resource when looking for glamping sites. However, there is no filter where you can just search “glamping.” So once you select the desired dates of travel and your destination, you look for the filters. Under property type, these are the filters that can help you find glamping sites: camping, cabin, safari, boat.
Between the mountains of New York State, the beautiful beaches in New England, and the fall foliage in the New England states, the choices for where to go within driving distance are absolutely endless. For all those stuck on where to find glamping sites, here are a few suggestions:
